Literature Text

No matter how loudly I scream,
I can't be heard.
But no matter how soft I think my voice is,
you can hear me.

No matter how much I look,
I can't seem to see.
But no matter how much I cry,
you still wipe the tears from my eyes.

No matter how hard I listen,
I can only hear my heart beating.
But no matter how long it takes,
you'll keep singing until I hear you.

No matter what I hold onto,
I still fall.
But no matter how many times I fall,
you'll always be there to catch me.

No matter how many times I try,
I still fail.
But no matter how many times I lose,
I'm still a winner in your eyes.

No matter how much I try to fit in,
I still stick out.
But no matter how different I am,
you say you love me the same.

No matter how far I run,
it's never enough.
But no matter how far I go,
you'll follow.

No matter how many people are there,
I still feel alone.
But no matter how alone I feel,
you'll always be there for me.

No matter how many times I check,
there are still monsters under my bed.
But no matter how many monsters are under my bed,
I'm safe with you.

Now,
I've stopped screaming.
I've stopped looking.
I've stopped listening.
I've stopped falling.
I've stopped losing.
I've stopped trying to fit in.
I've stopped running.
I've stopped pretending you aren't there.
I've stopped checking under my bed for monsters,
because I realised they were inside my head.
Just like you.
This poem is actually directed at myself. I'm not talking to some imaginary friend or whatever.
The last bit is a bit optimistic considering how i'm feeling at the moment, but the poem needed a decent ending, or it'd be just be a string of words on a laptop screen, or a bunch of scrambled sentences in my notebook...
